Horton Plains NP is a plateau at an altitude of 2000 m. Because of the altitude this area is often in the mist and thick clouds and that makes it equally beautiful mysterious. On the western border is the second highest mountain in Sri Lanka, the Totapola.
In this area you can make beautiful walks but you should do it early in the morning otherwise you are probably in the thick fog and you see nothing at all. The most popular walk is a circular walk of about 9 km to World’s End. World’s End is a beautiful viewpoint on the edge of a mountain, where you can look down about 1000m to the lowlands. If you continue you will pass Baker’s Fall, a beautiful waterfall. With a little luck you’ll see deer grazing.
