Kataragama is one of the most important and oldest places of pilgrimage in Sri Lanka for Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims. All year round pilgrims go here to worship the god Kataragama Deviyo / Skanda. This temple complex stands at the river Menik.
Especially during full moon feasts it is very busy here and there are many stalls around the complex.
