Uda Walawe NP is located south of the hilly landscape.
In this National Park there are about 500 elephants, but there are also monkeys, deer, crocodiles, leopards, lip bears, flying squirrels and many birds to see.
Because of the bushy vegetation you usually see quite a lot of animals.
The Elephant Transit Home on the south side of the park is intended as a temporary shelter for orphaned wild elephants. Unlike Pinnawela, these are only young animals and as soon as they are 5 years old they are released in Uda Walawe NP.
